The powerful husband and wife team were spotted hopping out the car to take a stroll along the Champs-Élysées today.


Beyonce went on a print bine in this a floral belly cut out spring dress and Snakeskin Louboutins and a hot snakeskin bag.


She looks great nonetheless.  Beyonce's new track "Girls (WHo Run The World)" --which reportedly being called a demo though--is lighting up the internet streets and radio waves.  All to mixed reviews.  Looks like she pleased about life these days though.  Who could blame her?

Smart, a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, will perform during the seventh-inning stretch May 8, when the Cubs host the Cincinnati Reds, ESPNChicago.com reported. The Cubs invited Smart and Butler coach Brad Stevens to sing as their teams were advancing through the NCAA Tournament. Smart quickly said he would accept.

May 8 holds great significance for Smart; his late grandfather, Walter King, was born on that date. Smart will use his trip to Wrigley as a tribute to King, who died during this year?s tournament. Smart last month recalled his trips with King to the historical baseball field when Smart was growing up in Madison, Wis.

'16 & Pregnant' Mom Allegedly PUNCHES Baby Daddy

One of the young moms on the new season of MTV's "16 & Pregnant" came face to face with cops� yesterday after allegedly socking her baby daddy in the cheek during an argument ... TMZ has learned. Law enforcement sources tell us ... cops in Hillsborough County, Florida responded to a battery call at the home of 19-year-old Josh Smith ... after he was allegedly attacked by the mother of his twins,17-year-old Jennifer Del Rio. We're told Smith gave a statement to police ... explaining that he was trying to break things off with Jennifer ... when she became "irate" and "punched him in the face and pulled on his shirt."Smith says he eventually pushed Jennifer away in self-defense.Cops took a report -- but so far, neither Del Rio nor Smith have been arrested.� It's not the first time these two have dealt with the cops -- Smith was arrested back in November for allegedly attacking HER ... and was ordered to complete a domestic violence program.

While the folks "familiar with the matter" continue to debate over whether or not we'll actually see a real life iPhone nano at some point in our lifetime, the crafty KIRFers in China have taken matters into their own -- apparently undersized -- hands. Yes people, what you see above is a Shanzhai-crafted shrunken iPhone 4 running an iOS rip-off based on Java, garnished with a 1.3 megapixel camera. Researchers show off DLC projector screen viewable in bright lighting conditions

One of the knocks against projectors has always been that they're not able to perform to their fullest unless the room is completely dark, but that may finally change if some researchers from Japan's Tohoku University have their way. They've developed a projector screen based on Diffused Light Control (or DLC), which allows only the light from the projector to be diffused towards those looking at the screen, while all other ambient light is either absorbed or reflected away. Of course, that doesn't mean the screen is quite ready for your home theater or boardroom. As you can see above, the current screen is made up of small panels that leave some noticeable seams, and it apparently still has considerable trouble in direct sunlight, although the researchers are confident both of those problems can eventually be overcome. Scorpions, Spiders and Sharks: Electron-Microscope Images








































































The scanning electron microscope has become one of the most powerful scientific visualization tools available, giving us incredible close-up views of anything from volcanic ash to snowflakes to bacteria.

The microscope works by scanning a focused beam of electrons across an object. The electrons interact with the atoms at the surface of the object, revealing the texture and structure with a depth of field that makes for a great three-dimensional sense of the target. Some of the most intriguing images are those of insects and other animals.

On this day in 1940, the first transmission (stationary) electron microscope, predecessor to the scanning electron microscope, was demonstrated in the United States. To celebrate the amazing contribution these microscopes have made to science, we asked scientists at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City to share some of their favorite SEM images with us.

Here are the beautiful and creepy images of scorpions, wasps, sharks, bees and spiders they sent us.

Solitary Bee
The American Museum of Natural History houses perhaps the most complete collection of bee eggs, larvae and pupae in the world. The image above is of the larva of a ground-nesting solitary bee from Turkey. This is the last instar larval stage, which describes the times between each molt (after an insect sheds its exoskeleton in order to grow) until the insect reaches sexual maturity.

Though many scientists study bees, curator Jerome Rozen is one of the few who studies solitary species and their parasites (seen on the last slide).

Why Charlie Sheen Didn't Get Full Cutsody

The judge in the Charlie Sheen/Brooke Mueller custody war did not award Charlie full custody because of Charlie's checkered past.Sources familiar with the case tell TMZ ... Judge Hank Goldberg was well aware Brooke had relapsed into drug use, but the judge was equally disturbed by Charlie's substance abuse and the fact that he bragged about it.TMZ broke the story ... the judge denied Charlie's request to strip Brooke of custody and award him full legal and physical custody of twins Bob and Max.� Judge Goldberg kept the status quo, ruling the custody agreement Charlie and Brooke struck last month will remain in effect.Judge Goldberg also felt Charlie's parenting skills -- or lack thereof -- did not warrant a change.� And, we're told, Brooke's lawyers raised issues of prior domestic violence on Charlie's part, though there were no fresh allegations.In the end, sources say Judge Goldberg felt both Brooke and Charlie had problems, but the twins were adequately protected by the nannys, relatives and other support staff.One final thing.� We're told Judge Goldberg did not hold the fact that Charlie brought his goddess to court against him.

Confirmed: The PSP Go is no more

The Sony PSP Go is today being reported to have "completed" its production and shipment in Japan, seemingly foreshadowing a worldwide discontinuation of sales. Such is the word from Impress Watch, which cites an official statement from Sony Computer Entertainment that promises support, firmware updates, and repairs for the PSP Go, but no further stock of the handheld. We doubt it'll be missed too much, what with its high price and inability to play UMD games, but if you're afraid this signals a similar demise for the PSP-3000, worry not. Intel shocks everyone, including itself, with record Q1 earnings

This is starting to get a bit repetitive, but we're sure Intel will never tire of hearing it: the chip maker just had its best quarter ever. The company expected to pull in roughly $11.6 billion, topping last quarter (and its previous record) by $500 million. Looks like the company was being conservative enough to make Pat Robertson blush -- it raked in a grand total of $12.8 billion in Q1 of 2011. About $500 million of that discrepancy can be explained by the acquisition of McAfee and Infineon, the rest is thanks to huge increases in sales across all market segments. Witness: LeBron's Mom Hurled XENOPHOBIC Slur

TMZ has learned ... a witness at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach told investigators Gloria James didn't stop running her mouth after she called the Haitian-born Rockfeller Sorel a "f**king n**ger" ... telling him, "take a boat and go back to your country."As we previously reported -- Gloria was arrested for battery and public intoxication after the incident ... and Sorel has since filed a civil lawsuit against her over the altercation ... claiming emotional distress, humiliation,� and mental anguish.The witness adds, Gloria's friend tried to pull her away from the fight before it got physical ... but Gloria allegedly insisted, "I'm gonna be ghetto."Calls to Gloria's attorneys were not immediately returned.

Alienware M18x and M14x first hands-on!

Now that Alienware's latest gaming notebooks have broken free from their classified captivity, perhaps you'd like to know how their form factors stack up? Well, we just so happen to have gotten our grubby paws on the extraterrestrials, and they're looking mighty fine. We'll warn you though, that the chart-topping M18x is a beast in more ways than one -- it may not be a literal 600-pound gorilla, but after one heft of its 16-pound frame we started wondering if luggables were back in vogue.

While the M18x's factory-overclocked 4GHz processor and HDMI-input sorely tempted us, we were rather more taken with the Alienware M14x's svelte frame, which should prove quite tempting for those who dig its more petite profile. While it doesn't have the anodized aluminum shell of its big brother the M18x, its red matte plastic exterior has a high-quality feel to it, though we spotted an unsightly seam along the right edge of the prototype unit. It's also unfortunately got a super-glossy screen, but the Klipsch speakers impressed -- much more than a simple gimmick, they're plenty powerful for a 14-inch notebook and sounded fairly crisp. We briefly played Call of Duty: Black Ops on the M14x, and found the keys to have plenty of travel and provided a satisfying click with each press as we wandered Cuban streets, and the touchpad was quite responsive as well (though we didn't have a chance to test its multitouch capabilities). It's heavier than other laptops with similar screen real-estate, but it's still an totally totable PC -- and the heft is a welcome tradeoff in exchange for the added horsepower under the hood as compared to its Jenny Craig competition.

Judge Hank Goldberg was well aware Brooke had relapsed into drug use, but the judge was equally disturbed by Charlie's substance abuse and the fact that he bragged about it.TMZ broke the story ... the judge denied Charlie's request to strip Brooke of custody and award him full legal and physical custody of twins Bob and Max.� Judge Goldberg kept the status quo, ruling the custody agreement Charlie and Brooke struck last month will remain in effect.Judge Goldberg also felt Charlie's parenting skills -- or lack thereof -- did not warrant a change.� And, we're told, Brooke's lawyers raised issues of prior domestic violence on Charlie's part, though there were no fresh allegations.In the end, sources say Judge Goldberg felt both Brooke and Charlie had problems, but the twins were adequately protected by the nannys, relatives and other support staff.One final thing.� We're told Judge Goldberg did not hold the fact that Charlie brought his goddess to court against him.

Sprint to pay at least $1 billion to use Clearwire's 4G network through 2012

Although it might not make a difference to consumers, the 4G network ripping through Sprint-branded devices such as the EVO 4G doesn't actually belong to the carrier. Rather, Sprint rents use of Clearwire's network, and the two have been duking it out for months over just how much that service is worth. That battle finally came to an end today when Sprint, which happens to be Clearwire's majority owner, agreed to pay at least $1.03 billion this year and next to run its WiMAX devices on the network. The two companies also agreed to mutual wholesale rights, meaning they can sell access to each other's 3G and 4G networks to other providers. And they reached a pricing agreement for phones that offer both 3G and 4G connectivity -- a bone of contention for Sprint, whose customers can't all take advantage of 4G speeds, depending on where they live. Then again, Clearwire needs those billions precisely so that it can expand its network. As for Sprint, it can now blow less cash on legal fees -- and instead gird itself for a potential three-horse race against Verizon and AT&T&T.

ARM predicts dual-core Cortex-A15 devices in late 2012, quad-core variants 'later on'

Smartphones and tablets, the two hottest categories of consumer devices right now, are dominated by ARM processor designs, so when the company speaks up about its product roadmap, we're inclined to listen in close. The next generation of ARM system-on-chip has been dubbed Cortex-A15 and was expected to ship in 2013, but that's now been accelerated slightly to late 2012, which is when we're told to expect actual devices on sale with A15 silicon on board. Single- and dual-core variants will get us started, before quad-core options start filtering through in 2013. ARM promises a stunning fivefold improvement in performance over current Cortex-A9 SOCs and already has NVIDIA, Samsung, ST-Ericsson, and Texas Instruments signed up as licensees for that new hotness. So now even Samsung's "desktop-class" 2GHz dual-core chip that's slated for 2012 has a reason to look over its shoulder. T-Mobile's Bobsled brand launches with free Facebook voice calls, much more promised soon

Looking for another free VoIP calling option? Well, you've now got one anyway -- T-Mobile has just announced its new Bobsled brand, and it's kicking things off with a Facebook application that will let you make free, "one-touch" calls to any of your friends around the world. Facebook is apparently just the beginning for the brand, though. T-Mobile says Bobsled is aimed at "bridging traditional telecommunications and Internet-based voice and data services," and it says it plans to expand the service in the near future to include video chat, the ability to place VoIP calls to mobile and landline phones, and even offer applications on both smartphones and tablets "regardless of the carrier that powers such devices." No word on how soon any of that might hit, but you can try out the Facebook application for yourself right now at the link below.

EU investigation to take a closer look at net neutrality

The EU has commissioned an investigation into how European ISPs handle traffic and manage their networks, in a move that could lead to new legislation on net neutrality. The investigation, to be conducted by the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC), will cover both mobile and fixed Internet providers, with particularly close attention paid to any barriers consumers may face when changing operators. BEREC will also consult with consumers and corporations to determine whether or not ISPs are being completely transparent about their traffic management practices, or advertised connection speeds. In a speech delivered yesterday, Neelie Kroes, the European Commission's Vice President for the Digital Agenda, admitted that some ISPs need to restrict some bandwidth-heavy services in order to protect their networks, but promised to publicly name and take action against any operators found to be stifling competition or consumer choice:

"Mark my words: if measures to enhance competition are not enough to bring Internet providers to offer real consumer choice, I am ready to prohibit the blocking of lawful services or applications. It's not OK for Skype and other such services to be throttled. That is anti-competitive. It's not OK to rip off consumers on connection speeds."
It's unlikely, however, that the EU will implement legislation as pointed as the net neutrality rules the FCC unveiled in the US, nor as expansive as the law that Chile introduced last summer. In a report issued yesterday, the EU affirmed that "operators should be allowed to determine their own business models and commercial arrangements" -- words that no doubt delighted many in Europe's ISP community. GSM-flavored Xoom passes FCC muster, bound for AT&T?

It appears Motorola is taking a page from the Samsung playbook and making the Xoom carrier-agnostic. Verizon and Sprint are already marching along and, according Wireless Goodness, an AT&T version is about to join the parade. The FCC approved a "hand held device" from Motorola that packs an HSDPA-capable radio on the 850MHz and 1900MHz bands, which just so happen to be the very same frequencies used by AT&T. A screen shot snapped by Wireless Goodness refers to the product as a "wireless tablet with embedded WLAN," though that description is conspicuously absent from the documents now. The filing also makes mention of MOTOTalk, two-way radio functionality, a feature missing from other Xoom versions that seems like a perfect fit for the rumored rugged tablet the company is working on. The actor jokes about how the underwear Ellen DeGeneres gave him kept popping up ? or rather out ? while filming Eclipse.

DeGeneres: I want to hear about the incident. You were on set and there was something involving me. It was actually not me. It was a piece of clothing.
Pattinson: Similar to another story I told you about windscreen wipers on my car not working. I don?t know how to use a washing machine either. I save your ones ["Ellen" underwear] for special occasions.
DeGeneres: My underwear?
Pattinson: Yeah.
DeGeneres: Thank you.
Pattinson: So they very rarely get brought out. I was doing the last Twilight movie, and I only had one pair left and they were those ones ["Ellen" underwear]. We were doing this big fight scene and for some reason I think the shape of my body, my back is too long or something. So my a** is constantly hanging out.
DeGeneres: Is that why your a** is hanging out? �We were wondering what made that happen all this time.
Pattinson: I genuinely think I have a few two many extra vertebra or something. Every single shot we were doing this big fight and every shot has these ?Ellen? underpants. It came to a point where producers are calling up my agent going, I don?t know what he is up to, but I don?t like it.?
DeGeneres: Like there is some conspiracy theory of my underwear being in the movie or something.
Pattinson: They never questioned ?Fruit of the Loom? before?
After their exchange, DeGeneres gave Pattinson a basket full of ?Ellen? underwear.

That hotel towel you're stealing might have an RFID chip in it

For many travelers, stealing hotel towels or bathrobes is more pastime than petty crime. Hotels, on the other hand, apparently take it more seriously. So seriously, in fact, that some have begun embedding specially crafted RFID tags within their linens, just to help us avoid "accidentally" stuffing them in our suitcases before heading to the check-out desk. The chips, designed by Miami-based Linen Technology Tracking, can be sewn directly into towels, bathrobes or bed sheets, and can reportedly withstand up to 300 wash cycles. If a tagged item ever leaves a hotel's premises, the RFID chip will trip an alarm that will instantly alert the staff, and comprehensively humiliate the guilty party. The system has already paid dividends for one Honolulu hotel, which claims to have saved about $15,000 worth of linens since adopting the system last summer. But small-time crooks needn't get too paranoid. In addition to the hotel in Hawaii, only two other establishments have begun tagging their towels -- one in Manhattan, and one in Miami. Trademark filing, domain names suggest Toshiba's tablet might be named 'Thrive'

Could Toshiba's nameless Honeycomb tablet finally have a proper name? Thanks to a helpful tipster, we now have our clearest indication yet. Toshiba just filled a trademark application for the name "Thrive" last week and, as you can see above, it clearly describes the goods and services being trademarked as a tablet computer. What's more, it seems that the company's also gone on a bit of a domain name buying spree as of late, with it snapping up a number of "Thrive" variations including ToshibaThrive.com, ThriveTablet.com, ThriveToshiba.com and TabletThrive.com (none of which actually go anywhere just yet). Of course, this isn't the first possible moniker for the tablet that's cropped up. The name "Antares" surfaced way back at Mobile World Congress, which could account for the ANT model name we also spotted, although it certainly sounds more like a codename than "Thrive" does to our ears -- and, as far as we can tell, Toshiba hasn't attempted to register a trademark for Antares (or any other names recently, for that matter).

Alienware M18x and M14x first hands-on!

Now that Alienware's latest gaming notebooks have broken free from their classified captivity, perhaps you'd like to know how their form factors stack up? Well, we just so happen to have gotten our grubby paws on the extraterrestrials, and they're looking mighty fine. We'll warn you though, that the chart-topping M18x is a beast in more ways than one -- it may not be a literal 600-pound gorilla, but after one heft of its 16-pound frame we started wondering if luggables were back in vogue.

While the M18x's factory-overclocked 4GHz processor and HDMI-input sorely tempted us, we were rather more taken with the Alienware M14x's svelte frame, which should prove quite tempting for those who dig its more petite profile. While it doesn't have the anodized aluminum shell of its big brother the M18x, its red matte plastic exterior has a high-quality feel to it, though we spotted an unsightly seam along the right edge of the prototype unit. It's also unfortunately got a super-glossy screen, though all the reflections nicely hid the unit's sizable bezel. We briefly played Call of Duty: Black Ops on the M14x, and found the keys to have plenty of travel and provided a satisfying click with each press as we wandered Cuban streets, and the touchpad was quite responsive as well (though we didn't have a chance to test its multitouch capabilities). It's heavier than other laptops with similar screen real-estate, but it's still an totally totable PC -- and the heft is a welcome tradeoff in exchange for the added horsepower under the hood as compared to its Jenny Craig competition.

Philips sells HDTV business to Hong Kong-based TPV Technology, will sate itself with royalty payments

Philips has been making teevees for over 80 years, but today its new CEO has announced that this storied history is coming to an end. Unable to generate a profit from its HDTV division -- it lost the company €87 million in the first quarter -- Philips will soon sell the majority stake in it to Hong Kong manufacturer TPV Technology, while retaining a 30 percent ownership share and agreeing guaranteed royalty payments of €50 million per year from 2013 onwards. It's not a bad deal for the Dutch consumer electronics maker, whose bottom line for the first quarter was €137 million in the black, but would have been double that had the new arrangement been in place. All 4,000 Philips employees working under the HDTV umbrella will be transferred over to TPV, though the company says it doesn't want the "market to misread that [it] intend to lay-off a lot of employees." Which is not to say that it won't. TALON robot gets declawed, helps Japan sniff out radiation (video)

Robotics experts at the Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory just taught an old war machine some new tricks, namely radiation detection -- a timely acquisition of knowledge, for sure. Swapping out rocket launchers and machine guns for a suite of radiological sensors, digital cameras, and a GPS device, this modified TALON will be used to map the radiation levels (and create a visual output) surrounding the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The newly modified TALON landed in Japan just last week, joining an existing team of robot helpers already in use in the disaster area, including two additional TALONs equipped with sensors that can identify more than 7500 environmental hazards. Guns for Geiger counters seems like a good trade to us; check the video up top to watch the 'bot try out its treads.

FESTIVAL FAB: Lauryn Hill & Cee-Lo Rock The Mic At Coachella, Usher & Girlfriend Grace Miguel Chill At The Fest

 
'Tis the season for great music festivals and The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival did not disappoint with its stellar roster of performers.  Come inside to see pics of Lauryn Hill and Cee-Lo Green entertaining music lovers from all over, and see Usher chilling with his lady Grace Miguel.
The Coachella Music Festival kicked off at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California yesterday with Lauryn Hill amongst the headliners.

 


As usual, she did a number of her hits.....remixed.  Sometimes the fans like them and sometimes they don't.


But she looked great and as "normal" as we have ever seen her.

And Cee-Lo Green was there to spread his musical message.
 
Cee-Lo is one of the mentors on NBC's new music competition show "The Voice."
 
Also at the festival....

Usher was seen walking around with his girlfriend Grace Miguel (in the far left corner).

It looks like the couple came with an entourage.
 

Usher recently returned to the States after performing in Australia and New Zealand.



While there, Usher ran into fellow artist Miguel.

And he took the time to snap a few pics with fans.  How sweet.
